Imad Gemayel Architects
IGA is an architectural and landscape design practice based in Beirut and established in late 2003. With the dynamism of an energetic, experienced and motivated team, the firm took a quick speed in getting involved in major projects in Lebanon and across the Middle East.
Carefully selected, where the design quality and environmental considerations are the main criteria, and relying on an appropriate teamwork as much as on transforming work into pleasure and self-satisfaction, the projects vary from the private realm to classified National Heritage sites and large scale public spaces.
Shortly after its establishment, IGA was able to build strong relationships with international renowned firms, which were consolidated over the projects and multiplied over the years.
The firm’s interpretation of architecture and landscape design is not limited to either exterior or interior spaces but an interaction of both to complete a whole sustainable living environment.
The approach is therefore global yet detailed, wide and diverse yet focused, futuristic in expectations and aspirations yet based on the experience of the past, from urban design of agglomerations growth down to individual convivial spaces.
The serenity of the design, the purity of the spaces and the neatness of the volumes are complementary elements and common vocabulary of the firm’s architectural and design language.
IGA Team
Founded by Imad Gemayel, IGA team is always built around common values, whether believing in the same mission and vision or sharing the same concerns and interpretation.
Depending on the context, scale and nature of the project at hand, IGA’s team may vary to include architects with additional expertise and experience in landscape design, urban planning and project management.
The flexible strategy of rotation and mobilization around the core members and the policy of sharing responsibilities, collective decision making, collaboration with a network of accustomed consultants and colleagues, allowed IGA team not only to engage in local and regional projects with international firms but also to enjoy side activities such as upcycling furniture, exhibitions and cultural event planning.
IGA’s Mission:
“Creatively for Man and Nature”
1. Creativity
As a distinguished mark, Creativity is the signature of each architect and de- signer and remains at the core of exploring new grounds.
2. Response to a Need
IGA’s intervention is meant to serve a purpose and respond to a need and a clear function and preferably to the largest possible number of users. Superfluous features are always replaced by well-designed and needed elements that can only add value to the project and increase its importance.
3. Cost Efficiency
Contrary to the common fantasy of an open budget, IGA conducts its own control system to limit the waste and avoid overconsumption. Achieving savings is IGA’s contribution to a better distribution of wealth and the preservation of natural resources for future generations.
4. Sustainability
IGA’s interest and research in sustainability extend beyond green buildings and derive their inspiration from the roots, to touch on social issues, ethical lifestyle, sustainable management and the preservation of biodiversity. All of which’s influence is not only explored in architecture, landscape planning and other design fields where the impact on the environment should be reduced, but also reflected in the very management of IGA’s business.
