PR 11 Park

IGA role: Landscape design

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Given the expected development projects and their density in Yas Island, and given the proximity to the Media Zone, the proposed landscaped design of the PR11 Park focused on achieving a good integration on 2 different levels through programming and connectivity:

1- The Larger Context:

By providing a program that compensates for the lack of green areas and unbuilt spaces while catering for diverse activities to attract all age groups. Large spaces are therefore designed to accommodate for a markets, exhibitions, gatherings, others protected with greenery for informal sport activities or surrounded by bleachers for performances and concerts…

By ensuring the project is well connected to the surrounding blocks through the continuity of the pedestrian network. Whether within the site or with the surrounding walkways, connections and loops are created for walkers, runners and cyclists.

2- The Immediate Surrounding:

By consolidating the identity created within the Media Zone project and extending the Wadi concept. Features inspired from the local landscapes such as hills surrounding the Wadi, Oases, Sand Dunes are also introduced to the same effect.

By interacting and complementing the Media Zone project through plazas, passageways, views, materials and plantation to ensure both projects have the same landscape language and are read as a single one though can function separately.
